Summer of the Mariposas
One last thing to be thankful for before the Thanksgiving break! MS343 had the honor of hosting Guadalupe Garcia McCall, the best-selling author of Summer of the Mariposas! 🌟 This incredible young adult novel is a modern magical Mexican-American retelling of The Odyssey that beautifully celebrates sisterhood, family, and the meaning of home.
Our 8th graders had an unforgettable experience as they enjoyed lunch with the author and dove into a thoughtful Q&A. They asked about her creative process, sources of inspiration, and personal journey as a writer. Some 8th graders even went home with their own signed copy of the text. It was an inspiring and enriching day for all!
